The Growth Challenge: Connecting the Earth to the Business

Nicole is Head of Geoscience, Metals Exploration for BHP based in Toronto, Canada. Nicole guides global teams across a range of commodities to understand and apply mineral systems to enable a step change in the discovery of new economic deposits. Nicole has a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Toronto and over 20 years’ experience predicting, targeting and exploring for minerals and metals around the world.

BHP is a global, diversified resource company, with a long history that stretches back to the late 19th century. Here we are almost 150 years later, and we continue to produce the commodities the world needs to increase our standard of living, feed a growing population, and decarbonize the globe. With decarbonization drawing into sharper focus, the world will require more copper and nickel for the electrification of energy and transportation. The growth engine at BHP is working hard to find more of the commodities that the world needs now and into the future. I’ll share some of the ways that we’re stepping up to the challenge – from business accelerators to paradigm-shattering geoscience.
