Sustainability in Supply Chains

Cristina looks forward to sharing with you the importance of sustainable supply chains in the mining industry from her perspective as well as the challenges and opportunities from her experience in the industry.

Cristina Bertoni joined Vale Canada Ltd. in January 2023 as Head of Global Procurement and Inbound Logistics (CPO), responsible for all supply chain and procurement operations. She has worked in Canada for almost 7 years now, having spent 6 years as Global Procurement Vice President at Yamana/ JV Agnico Eagle. From mid 2012 until December 2016, Cristina was Global Supply Chain BRM Vice President at BASF SE, Ludwigshafen, Germany. Prior to that, she was South America Supply Chain Vice President for BASF from 2008 until 2013, responsible for all supply chain and procurement operations.  Cristina’s first job was at Eastman Kodak as an Executive Assistant in 1987 taking on progressive leadership roles throughout her tenure, including Foreign Trade Manager, Supply Chain Manager and Logistics Director. Cristina holds a bachelor’s in business administration from Sao Paulo University, a professional supply chain certificate from the American Production and Inventory Control Society and a Foreign Trade specialist degree from Aduaneiras Brazil, and Supply Chain Strategy from MIT, USA.

Cristina has also dedicated part of her career to diversity and inclusion initiatives, receiving two different awards, one at Kodak as Pioneering the Diversity Forum creation in South America and another one  for  heading the Diversity and Inclusion for Global IT and Supply Chain at BASF SE – Germany in 2013. She received a Women in Mining tribute from the Mining Association of Canada in 2022.
