Mining the Future: Lessons for AI’s Next Frontier

Too often, AI is discussed as though it lives only in the cloud. In reality, its future will be forged on the ground — in who controls the minerals, power, water, and infrastructure that make scaling possible. Mining has taught us that true progress isn’t just about technology, it’s about grit, perseverance, and the ability to align communities, governments, and industries.

As we build the AI-driven minerals economy, the real question is: who gets to shape it? Women’s voices, leadership, and participation are not optional — they are essential to ensuring this next phase of industrial transformation is not only innovative, but also reflective, equitable and sustainable.

Women have long been at the center of building resilient industries, bridging community, policy, and innovation. As we enter this next phase where mining and AI intersect, women leaders will be essential in ensuring not only the technological leap, but also the human dimensions of progress. Additionally, drawing on the mining playbook, we will explore how scaling AI infrastructure requires the same strategic foresight, social license, and resource stewardship that mining has honed for decades.
