How the Indigenous Centre of Excellence Is Shaping a More Inclusive Mining Future
In this session, Jenny will introduce the work in the Indigenous Centre of Excellence for Mineral Development and share insights on First Nations perspectives, alongside her own experience in the mining industry. She will highlight how the Centre supports First Nation participation in the mining sector by providing access to data, research and technical resources; developing tools and training to build capacity; and fostering stronger relationships between communities, industry and governments.

About the Speaker
Jenny-Lou Campbell is Anishinaabe-Kwe and a proud member of Serpent River First Nation. She grew up in the Ontario mining communities of Elliot Lake and Marathon. She is a graduate of Sault College and Lakehead University where she earned her B.Sc. in Natural and Environmental Sciences. Her career in mining has taken her to Hemlo Ontario, Thompson Manitoba, and Sudbury Ontario. Her roles spanned technical, planning, and projects both underground and above working with various mining departments, including surveying, ventilation, mine planning and project estimating. In 2022, she transitioned into First Nation advocacy and policy work with the Anishinabek Nation before assuming her current role as the Executive Director of the Indigenous Centre of Excellence for Mineral Development (ICEMD).
